Bundle up Cactus 2021 provided coats to over 300 people. That is almost ten percent of the population. The distribution days were moved from November to September as the past few years have seen the first snows hitting in October. Many of our residents are not familiar with cold weather. It is not unusual to see people wearing jackets and sweaters even when the temperature is in the 90's. So as morning temperatures dip into the 40's, heavy coats become a necessity to many. For the second year of COVID 19 we took many extra precautions to keep everyone safe. Cactus Recreation Center again allowed the use of their large gymnasium to make it easier to stay socially distanced as families were scheduled 1 or 2 every 15 minutes to prevent lines and crowds.
It is always great to see the smiling faces of those who were receiving beautiful new coats, especially the children. Bundle Up Cactus is just another way we show this community we are here to help.
